Liposuction |
Liposuction is a frequently performed cosmetic or aesthetic procedure. Liposuction procedure consists of aspiration of excess adipose tissue of the body to get back the desired shape, curves and body contour. This is not a weight loss procedure, it can achieve improved body contour, overall size decrease, and act as a stimulus for further weight loss.
The procedure is done using tumescent technique and fat is removed through tiny holes with the help specialized instruments and suction machines. The ideal situation involves a properly selected patient who is treated by a well trained surgeon and anesthesiologist team.
Liposuction is commonly done for fatty deposit in the abdominal wall, flanks, thigh, buttocks, thigh and arm. Double chin, face, breast, axilla, calf and back are the other areas where patient can benefit remarkably with liposuction. Liposuction can be done in more than one area provided the safe limit of aspiration is not exceeded.
Anesthesia, Aftercare and Complications
The procedure can be done in local anesthesia or general anesthesia as a day case.
There can be minimal soakage from the site of liposuction for a couple of days. Compression garment is worn for more than a month. The common complications are bruises and seroma.

| Tummy Tuck or Abdominoplasty |
Aims to get back a flat and well toned abdomen. Individuals desiring for tummy tuck complains of a protruding or loose and sagging tummy. The most common causes of such a situation are following pregnancy, aging, significant fluctuations in weight, heredity and prior surgery.
Procedure
Abdominoplasty or tummy tuck removes excess fat and skin, and in most cases restores weakened or separated muscles creating an abdominal profile that is smoother and firmer. Umbilicus is relocated with a pleasing appearance. This procedure may be combined with liposuction to achieve a better shape and contour. Strech marks may be removed or improved if they are located on the lower abdomen.
Anesthesia and Aftercare
The procedure is done under general anesthesia and hospital stay is required for a day or two.
Minor bruises and swelling (if present) corrects within 2 weeks time. |
| Umbilicoplasty |
Umbilicoplasty attempts to create a more youthful looking bellybutton to correct the bellybutton they were born with, or one that has changed due to weight gain/loss, or pregnancy.
Procedure
In most umbilicoplasty cases, the patient wants to correct a protruding bellybutton, or turn their "outtie" into an "innie". Desired umbilicoplasty results are usually a vertical bellybutton or one that is T-shaped. Umbilicoplasty can be performed at the same time as a tummy tuck or other cosmetic procedure.
Anesthesia and Aftercare
An umbilicoplasty usually requires only local anesthesia. It is performed as an office procedure or in a surgical center. The scar is hidden inside of the navel and therefore does not show externally. Umbilicoplasty results are immediately visible. Most umbilicoplasty results will be permanent, barring pregnancy or significant weight gain following the surgery.
Arm lift (brachioplasty), thigh lift and buttock lift are the other body contouring procedure requested by the patients. |
